Juha is on a relaxing retreat with his wife and daughter at an idyllic lake, but has to experience a devastating stroke of fate. His wife tragically drowns. The emotional emptiness and the burgeoning self-hatred won’t let Juha go. Years later, when he allowed his daughter to have her tongue pierced and accompanied her, he met Mona, a dominatrix, in the SM studio. When they first meet, the unbelievable happens. Mona cuts off his breath. The asphyxia triggers a comforting hallucination in Juha. His life takes on a new meaning, which, however, only comes about in the absolute nearness of death. To do this, however, he has to submit to his domina every time anew.

The film, which is worth seeing in at least fifty shades of gray and neon red, carefully shows a mutual power structure between Juha (Pekka Strang from TOM OF FINLAND) and Mona (Krista Kosonen from BLADE RUNNER 2049) and goes about it to the pain threshold and beyond. Playing with power, the pain of pleasure and lots of shiny latex make “50 SHADES OF GRAY look like a kindergarten” (empire online).
